AND THE REVIEWS ARE IN!

Posted 20 October 2010 by SJ

Hello everyone, on this very cold morning! I hope it’s warmer where you are!? Brrrrrrr!!

You may have seen me asking if anyone wanted to write a review of one of our galleries in exchange for some Tate Kids goodies?

Well we’ve had our first one in! With pictures! August Thompson Wild (great name!) – take it away…

We visited Tate Modern on Saturday October 9th
We travelled by train and Underground to St Pauls and then walked
across the wobbly bridge.

I’ve drawn 4 pictures -
One of my journey on the tube

Gus on the Underground

One of the Millennium Bridge (you might be able to make out Tate Modern on right bank – - unfortunately we didn’t see any dolphins or whales).

Gus on The Millenium Bridge

I liked the food in the cafe  – good fish and chips, and I really liked the birds pinned to the wall with arrows!

I had a great time!

Gus in the Cafe and with the birds!

Thanks, August! I’ll send you your goodies in the post ASAP.

If anyone else would like to write something about their visits to Tate, then just email me at kids@tate.org.uk. Looking forward to reading them!

WALKING TO TATE MODERN

Posted 27 May 2010 by Hannah

There are a lot of ways to get to Tate Modern. Maybe if the weather’s good, you’d like to come this way?

If you walk from the Royal Festival Hall on the South Bank (it’s really near Waterloo station) you can see all sorts of cool things.

This is the Oxo tower – as in Oxo cubes! It’s got lots of shops and even a tiny art gallery. Can you spot the Oxo letters? They light up red at night, so it’s a cool sight to see!

There’s St Paul’s Cathedral, on the other side of the River. The dome is almost the same height as Tate Modern’s chimney.

But oops, what’s this? There’s a diversion on the path! Looks like they’re making it an even nicer place to go for a walk. Still, it’s quite easy to find Tate Modern, there’s a special series of banners on lampposts that lead the way.

There it is! You could probably just follow the huge groups of schoolchildren. These guys were from France, and we walked the rest of the way together.

The diversion takes you straight to the Turbine Hall entrance. Cool!

There’s nothing in there at the moment, but it sounded like secret things were happening behind these doors . . .

So, next time you visit us, remember to take a walk in the sunshine and Be Happy!
